The KlezMaineia festival will be held at JCA’s Center Day Camp on Sebago Lake on June 4th, 2023, and will offer a full day of music, dancing, and singing workshops, followed by an evening concert and dance. Mamaliga, the critically acclaimed Klezmer band, will be leading the workshops and will headline the concert. Mamaliga melds Klezmer melodies of old country Yiddishland with new era sensibilities. They will lead 3 Klezmer music workshops, each tailored for musicians of varying ages, instrument types, and abilities. They will also teach Klezmer dance and Yiddish singing workshops for all ages and abilities. This festival is geared for participants with little to no knowledge of Klezmer music or Yiddish folk traditions, but will also appeal to those with some background and experience. KlezManeia will bring people of all backgrounds together to share in, learn about, and celebrate this rich and beautiful tradition.
