The Joyce will promote and present Malpaso Dance Company in six performances featuring Aszure Barton’s "Indomitable Waltz" at The Joyce Theater, January 17–21, 2018. Featuring eight dancers and set to music by Romanian violinist Alexander Balanescu, British pianist Michael Nyman, and German composer Nils Frahm, “Indomitable Waltz” was described as “thrilling” and “engrossing” when it made its U.S. debut at the Duncan Theatre in Palm Beach, Florida, in February 2017. With “Indomitable Waltz” created by Barton during a Joyce and NDP-supported residency with Malpaso in Havana, Cuba, in June 2016, The Joyce is especially excited to present the work’s New York City premiere.
