The Joyce Theater

The Joyce Theater’s presentation of LaTasha Barnes will include six public performances during a weeklong residency, October 11–16, 2022. A moderated Curtain Chat with the artists will follow the performance on Wednesday, October 12, free to ticket holders; and a Family Matinee with discounted tickets for children will be offered on Saturday, October 15. The Joyce program will feature the NDP-funded work “The Jazz Continuum,” performed by an intergenerational cast of Black dancers and musicians who celebrate the joy and sacred power of the Black experience. Reaching way back into the past and drawing from the present for this work, Barnes connects the dances that sprang from America’s Black jazz music with today’s house and hip-hop dance vocabularies.
