Junebug Productions is continuing its ongoing collaboration with Urban Bush Women (UBW) for the development of Haint Blu, UBW's new dance-theatre work that uses performance as a center and source of healing, taking us through movement into stillness and rest: remembering, reclaiming, releasing, and restoring. It is an embodied look into familial lines and the movements, histories and stories of our elders and ancestors. Junebug will host a second residency of the UBW company January 26-29, 2023, in New Orleans with two pubic performances at the Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice, a newly-established arts space on historic Bayou Road named in honor of the first great Black martyr of the Civil War in Louisiana. The residency will also include an open rehearsal and two community talkbacks. UBW had previously visited the city in August for a research and development residency, which included story-sharing from longtime Crescent City residents and local artists.
