FRONT PAGE: THE ENCORE is a new interdisciplinary, immersive performance work created and directed by Stephanie McKee-Anderson that interrogates the interplay between artistic ambition, genuine inspiration, and manufactured success in the capitalist entertainment industry. The work explores its themes through the example of Front Page, a seminal R&B boy band from the 1990s that experienced national success for a time, before slipping into relative obscurity. With the participation of, testimonies from, and performances by the group's original members. FRONT PAGE: THE ENCORE will seamlessly weave together memory, music and dance to explore the highs and lows of celebrity-obsessed culture in the 21st century. The first performances are planned for June 2024 in New Orleans with an eye toward building upon the relationships established by Junebug Productions during the touring of GOMELA over the past four years to share this new work with other communities.
