National Theater Project Transition Grant

Song of the North is a large-scale, cinematic performance combining the manual art of shadow puppetry with projected animation to tell the courageous tale of Manijeh, a heroine from ancient Persia. This show has toured across the US and abroad in over a dozen cities and counting. This transition grant will enable the ensemble to participate in upcoming US and international festivals and engagements, allowing us to develop new connections within the theater world for future works. The funds will also go towards the creation of a video recording for documentation and preservation of both the show and the very detailed backstage choreography and puppetry work. Finally, this grant will allow us to keep necessary staff as we transition towards the creation of a new theatrical work.
