Samite's LESSONS OF HUMANITY will be the closing offering of the 28th Annual Ko Festival of Performance, which in 2019 has been curated on the theme of "HABITAT." Through music and personal narrative, he will put a personal face on habitat change - both environmental & human, as he takes us on a journey from the landscape of his native Uganda, the upheaval of Idi Amin's regime, and his own habitat change as a refugee. He will share insights and experiences he's garnered in his work with displaced persons in refugee camps. Each of his three performances will be followed by in-depth post-show discussions, and will be accompanied by a lobby display of his photographs of Uganda.
