Litchfield Jazz Festival/Camp

Avery Sharpe will be in residence as a master teacher and performer at Litchfield Jazz Camp from July 17 to August 5, 2016. He will lead student combos, master and theory classes, appear on artist panels and give public performances with other faculty members. On August 7, he will participate in the Litchfield Jazz Festival’s salute to 20 Years of Litchfield Jazz Camp, “Generations of Jazz.” His program, featuring some of his own compositions, is entitled “The Great Big Bass Blowout,” and will pair Avery with former jazz campers who are now practicing musicians, upon whom he has had a strong influence. There will be an all bass band and Matt Wilson on drums and Helen Sung on piano.
