Arms Around America is a community-based theater project that explores how Americans experience fear, power, identity, loss, and love through our relationships with guns. Presented as a live radio-theater broadcast, actors voice dozens of characters in short plays based on real families affected by gun violence. The production invites dialogue on the complex roles guns play in society, offering diverse perspectives on this issue. For its Miami premiere, Arms Around America will be presented by Live Arts Miami and Miami Light Project at Miami Dade College's Lehman Theater. The partners will host community engagement activities with campus and local organizations to expand the conversation around gun violence. Two roles will be cast locally from the New World School of the Arts, where students will participate in rehearsals and performances for both student and public audiences.
