Fat Boy combines ancient cultural traditions, mythology, B-Boy choreography, spoken-word hip-hop performance, and traditional and contemporary music to create a hybrid performance that examines American consumerism and wastefulness juxtaposed with world hunger and poverty.

The inspiration for this piece originated from Castellanos’ travel to India and his first-hand experience with poverty at a train station in Mumbai and the overwhelming experience of coming face-to- face with world poverty.
