Madison Park Development Corporation (MPDC) and artist Ekua Holmes extend their collaboration of Holmes’ acclaimed Roxbury Sunflower Project at 639 Warren Street in Boston’s Grove Hall neighborhood, a vacant site at which MPDC intends to develop affordable housing in the coming years. Building on the project’s success in 2023, the 2024 and 2025 program will including planting a Sunflower Wisdom Garden; creating a Sunflower Shed mural on a shed constructed in partnership with Worc2, led by a team of MPDC Summer Youth Employment Program participants; hosting monthly programing include community listening sessions, collaborative events with community organizations and panel discussions; and a formal Closing Event at the end of the growing seasons.
