MSA will welcome Czarna Wolgastar to present “Uneven Waves: The Balkan Surf Sound,” a workshop with suggested donations of $5-$15. With a low floor and high ceiling, the workshop will appeal to children over 10, as well as adults who have an interest in surf and musical fusion. During the workshop, Balkan music meets American jazz. Participants will go behind the rhythmic scenes with the alien and human members of Czarna Wolgastar to learn how they combine it all.

Later that evening, the spaceship Wolgastar 1 returns to Earth for a 75-minute concert of alien-infused intergalactic Balkan surf jazz. The three non-corporeal Wolgastarian entities embody three members of the Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica Quintet: Tev Stevig (guitar), Michael Harrist (bass), and Brian O'Neill (drums). Together, the trio release a strange, other-worldly cocktail of Balkan beats and Milky-Way mischief crossed with the American songbook, film soundtracks, and more.
