Mayo Street Arts (MSA) will present Puzzle Théâtre’s “Bois”—French for “Woods”— as part of the 2024 Puppets in Portland festival, which will take place in Maine from September 13-22.

"Bois" is a humorous and inspiring performance that utilizes natural materials as object theater in a colorful performance of unexpected situations. “Bois” is a remarkable work of playful object manipulation as puppeteers Csaba Raduly and Pavla Mano joyfully bring to life a multitude of wooden pieces of various sizes that they have collected across beaches and forests. The stage is set with a pile of branches and eyes because according to Puzzle Théâtre: everywhere, everything sees. The pieces of wood are brought together by the artists to form strange creatures, some hostile, some comical, to form a curious world that surprises, amazes, and inspires.

This is a wordless show for family audiences that celebrates the innate life of natural materials.
