Mayo Street Arts will present performances by Firefly the Hybrid commissioned specifically for our venue, which will feature immersive worlds conjured through video-mapped projection to uplift his music.
As a member of the Penobscot Nation, Firefly is helping to place Indigenous people in a modern context. His skills as a jeweler shine through his dazzling, multidimensional live performances, which call to mind Afrofuturism; an exploration of a pure identity spirited through time on the other side of a misty veil, safe from colonization.
MSA programming staff will work directly with Firefly, learning through assisting with his piece from conception through installation and performance.
