Multi-media artist, Michelle Falcón Fontánez, will be engaging PALF to learn projection mapping skills. These skills she hopes will directly contribute to her public art practice and a specific project that is currently in a research and development stage. “Las Queremos Vivas (We Want Them Alive).” The series honors the women who were murdered at the rising culture of violence against women in Puerto Rico. The project focuses on uplifting the stories of women who have experienced gender violence, sexual assault or have been murdered at the hands of men on the island. “Las Queremos Vivas” questions how colonialism and machismo culture have impacted the rampant epidemic.
The photo portion of the project will be used in public art/projection mapping as a call to action campaign.
