Mobius Artist Group

These funds would support the travel of one of Mobius' artist-producers to attend the final weeks of the Venice Biennale as an assisting performer within a project by an artist in the Seychelles Island pavilion, a small African country in the Indian ocean. This is an opportunity for one of our members to be behind the scenes at one of the most prominent contemporary art showcases in the world, living and working alongside artists from an extremely diverse community of performers, as well as an opportunity to see other performance works in the Venice Biennale and meet with the artists making them as they are closing down their projects for the end of the year-long festival. Historically, this member of Mobius has brought artists to Boston to show performance and installation work after visiting showcases in the past in this kind of behind-the-scenes way. These are conditions that allow for a different kind of connection than simply viewing the work as an audience member or curator.
