Dahlak Brathwaite’s Try/Step/Trip, brings together his multiple talents as a spoken-word artist, musician, and dancer in an expanded version of his earlier solo Spiritrials which explores his experiences in a black college fraternity and journey through the criminal justice system. This new version with four performers in collaboration with renowned director, Roberta Uno and choreographer, Toran X. Moore questions what it means for incarceration to be an unofficial rite of passage for many young black men in our country while searching for vindication in the eyes of the law and society
