The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presents Taylor Mac, who returns to the MCA to perform A 24-Decade History of Popular Music: 1956-1986. This is a portion of a larger project that tells a subjective history of the United States told through music in the form of a 24 hour-long concert that bridges 24 decades—from the founding of our country in 1776 to now. Mac is currently building the project, decade by decade and song by song; it will culminate in Fall 2016 with an epic 24-hour-long extravaganza. For the MCA presentation, Mac—dressed in the costume creations of Machine Dazzle— and his seven-person band will perform music from the three decades 1956-1986.
