BRKFST Dance Company will have a creative residency at NCCAkron February 18-25, 2024 to continue working on their piece "Fugue State". This is a return visit for BRKFST since they participated in NCCAkron's 21st Century Dance Practices series in 2023, a program which augments the existing curriculum each spring semester at University of Akron (UA) and extends artists the space to rest and/or conduct choreographic research on their own. During this upcoming creative residency, BRKFST will host a “Cypher Classic” workshop for UA students. This workshop is for dancers and musicians which encourages real-time collaboration and improvisation. Through guided activities, participants will gain awareness of each individual's aesthetic as they rely on their technique, composition, respective vocabularies, and improvisational practices. BRKFST will also have an open rehearsal of "Fugue State" for the public.
