The Newman Center for the Performing Arts will host Camille A. Brown & Dancers for a three-day residency from October 2-4, 2018. The residency will include a public performance of "ink", a free, multigenerational/all levels social dance class and a post-performance talkback with audience and dancers. Potentially, the members of the company will also visit a juvenile detention center to lead a movement workshop. “ink” celebrates the rituals, gestural vocabulary, and traditions that remain ingrained within the lineage of the African Diaspora and reclaims African-Americans narratives by showcasing their authenticity.
