Next Stage Arts Project

Next Stage will present Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band (ENSMB), a Sommerville, MA-based Balkan brass band that creates “a joyful cacophony of Balkan, Klezmer and funk, with a tasteful thrash of metal thrown in for good measure.” Our intention is to present the ensemble as part of our community-focused Bandwagon Summer Series. The artist reflects values of cultural diversity not often represented in the Southeastern Vermont region. By bringing them to Putney, Next Stage is bringing cultural options that wouldn’t normally make its way to the area. Children 12 and under receive free admission to all Bandwagon shows, and the organization has found a lot of families attend for the prospect of cultural exposure for their children. ENSMB will also host a talk and short performance for youth prior to their show.
