Next Stage Arts Project

Next Stage Arts will present Bondeko, an unlikely musical collaboration of an Albanian crooner and folklorist, a traditional Guinean drummer and a French singer-songwriter. In addition to a concert performance, Bondeko will host community engagement activities including a post-concert Q&A and a student music workshop.
Presentation of this multicultural group, consisting of creatives from the immigrant community of Portland, ME, provides a new lens of the immigrant experience for the community of Putney, VT. Being a small, rural, majority white and multigenerational community, Putney only occasionally engages with the broader international immigrant community. This concert provides an environment for Putney’s new Afghani refugee neighbors to engage with a dynamic reflection of the lived experience of immigrants, and provide a point of cultural connection for all.
