Next Stage Arts Project

Next Stage Arts is excited to present The Smack Dabs, a Boston-based group of musicians, specializing in good-time Swing Blues music from the 1930s and featuring the songs of Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy, The Harlem Hamfats, and many others. This delightful, timeless genre features a rich variety of musical styles, ranging from mournful blues to joyful celebrations, setting the stage for incredible solo and group improvisations and delighting listening audiences and dancers alike. The Smack Dabs will perform a double bill with The Rhythm Future Quartet, another Boston-based band that performs dynamic and fiery arrangements of Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions that draw from rhythms heard around the world. The Smack Dabs will offer 1-2 additional engagement activities, including a separate daytime performance at a local senior community facility, or a school show for students at The Putney Central School, and a dance party with swing instruction for local community members.
