Portland Institute for Contemporary Art presents Cie Nacera Belaza in Le Trait which premiered in 2012 at the Festival d'Avignon. In this triptych, Belaza works with her sister and two male dancers. In two solos and one duet, three choreographic gestures and deeply sensual experiences, she explores the relations between particular forms of Algerian traditional dance, holy rituals and her own choreographic handwriting characterized by intensity, inwardness and precise detail.
