Polk State College is presenting Black Girl, a new work by Camille A. Brown and Dancers. Black Girl is a multimedia work that depicts the complexities of carving out a positive identity as a Black female in urban American culture, combining history and musicology to examine the politics of pleasure, the concept of patriarchy, and contemporary notions of beauty for black women.
