A 24-Decade History of Popular Music is Taylor Mac’s subjective history of America since its founding in 1776. The project chronicles the ways in which communities build themselves because they are being torn apart. Years in development, Mac's bedazzled pop odyssey is a highly immersive crash course in the 240 years (and counting) of American culture and dysfunction. The 24-hour durational work can be performed in several configurations. 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist, winner of the Edward M. Kennedy Award for Drama Inspired by American History, Bessie Award for Outstanding Production and Visual Design, and New York Times’ 2016 lists of Best Performances, Best Theater, and Best Music.
