Portland Ovations is partnering with the Portland Public Schools, the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, and Indigo Arts Alliance to host award-winning Congolese playwright, actor, director, and producer Toto Kisaku in a week-long residency to include school and public workshops and three performances, including two of his one-man play, “Requiem for An Electric Chair.” “Requiem” tells the story of his persecution in and eventual exile from Congo. Through this narrative, Toto shares the story of his arrest, imprisonment, and near death in Congo, and the way his art ultimately saved his life; storytelling that will resonate deeply throughout all of Portland’s communities.
