Providence Public Library will host Boston artist Carolyn Shadid Lewis and her NEFA New Work New England project, InterGeneration. Filmed during the early stages of the pandemic, this creative documentary follows a group of Boston teens and elders as they connect with each other through storytelling and animation. The event will coincide with InterGeneration’s national broadcast on PBS member stations. Continuing with the co-generational themes inherent in the film, Providence Public Library will gather an intergenerational audience, including youth from the library’s many youth programs. A community workshop following the film will provide opportunities for intergenerational storytelling. Audience members can also participate in a collaborative animation where they will learn the basics of pixilation animation—stop-motion animation with the human body.
