In August 2022, Puppet Showplace Theater will present Paradox Teatro's internationally-touring production "Migraciones" as part of its distinctive Puppets at Night performance series for adult and teen audiences. This series, unique in the greater Boston area, features work that explores thought-provoking topics and showcases the astonishing array of styles in contemporary puppetry arts. “Migraciones,” a Henson foundation award-winning collaboration between Mexican puppeteer Sofía Padilla and American performance artist Davey T Steinman, combines puppetry, video projection, live drawing, and live music in a bilingual performance that follows a fictional photographer’s journey along the US-Mexico border. Partnerships with local Spanish-immersion schools and cultural organizations will extend the production's reach in the community, and, in addition to three performances, Paradox Teatro will offer a workshop in visual storytelling through their signature sand drawing technique.
