Radical Evolution

Developed in collaboration with Sol Project, Radical Evolution (Rad Ev) will develop and tour CANCIONES, a multi-generational performance piece inspired by Linda Ronstadt’s seminal album, “Canciones de mi Padre,” the highest-grossing Spanish-language album in US history, to explore the oft-cited, rarely understood Mexican-American experience.

The creative process will be co-led by RadEv co-founder Beto O’Byrne and artist-in-residence Galia Backal and will tour to Latinx communities throughout the US. A key component of this project will be its site-specific performances in parks, community centers, and similar venues. This will serve to situate the project outside the Westernized theatrical vernacular and seek to connect it with the broader Mexican American community.
