Star of the Sea is a production by Galway-based theatre company Moonfish Theatre. It is freely adapted from Joseph O’Connor bestselling novel of the same name. Set in 1847 aboard the ship the Star of the Sea as it journeys from Cobh to New York during the Great Famine. The production enjoyed a sold-out tour in various cities in Ireland, and the Redfern would like to bring the show to the New England region during the 2017-18 season. Because New England is rich in Irish history, the goal of this project is to bring some of the artists to the States in the fall of 2016 to meet with presenters and cultural organizations to plan a New England tour.
