The Redfern invites back the beloved Alloy Orchestra to compose and perform their live music score to the exceptional silent film The Black Pirate. Written by and starring Douglas Fairbanks, this fast paced pirate tale shows Fairbanks at his swashbuckling best and is one of the first films shot in color with some of the most gorgeous footage of the silent era. Working with an outrageous assemblage of peculiar objects, Alloy creates signature music from unlikely sources. The three-man musical ensemble have helped to revive the lost art of silent film accompaniment. Redfern audiences rave about this group. The artists will lead an open workshop on Participatory/ Improvised Composition to Film.
