David Dorfman Dance (DDD)'s new piece in development, A(way) Out Of My Body, allows us to look at how our lives act as out-of-body experiences. The evening of new dance, music, visuals and text digs into the human body's collective memory. Navigating through its inherited history and deep traumas, the body/self becomes the most powerful representation of resistance in the face of oppression and rampant inequality - all in the service of finding love, intimacy and a measure of safety. The piece also features a hauntingly stirring original score performed live by DDD house band leaders Liz Delise, Samuel Crawford, and saxophonist Jeff Hudgins, member of the Brooklyn-based band Bombay Rickey.
