Rhode Island College will present KAIROS Dance Theater’s husk/vessel, a multi-media performance made in collaboration with choreographer Paula Josa-Jones. husk/vessel asks how we shape images of self and other, and how our environments, including dress, affect our perception and movement. Developed entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic, husk/vessel depicts a pandemic-infiltrated world, illustrating the intense emotions experienced during that time. Composed of solos, duets, and ensemble sections, husk/vessel is deeply personal, making it profoundly universal. As part of the residency, Paula Josa-Jones, alongside KAIROS’s Artistic Director DeAnna Pellecchia, will set an original piece of choreography on students. The company, with Paula Josa-Jones, will offer master classes open to the community, for both dancers & non-dancers, which will weave improvisational movement practices with spontaneous writing exercises and draw from imagery used in the creation of the performance.
