Royall House and Slave Quarters

Storyteller Tammy Denease, whose interpretation of the 18th-century enslaved woman Belinda premieres at our annual benefit event in June, will bring this historic figure back to Medford for two public performances on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015. “Compelled to Servitude: The Story of Belinda" will take place in the only remaining freestanding slave quarters building in New England, and will use Belinda’s own words to bring this strong woman to life on the site where she lived and worked. Ms. Denease will perform as Belinda for Medford’s public school 5th graders and will provide a talk on the Tufts University campus.
