In honor of the 100th anniversary of Saint-Gaudens Memorial, the Aardvark Jazzet will perform at the Saint-Gaudens annual summer series, in a lecture-concert titled "Memory, Hope, and Freedom, An Imaginative Celebration of the Shaw Memorial, In Music by Mark Harvey and Duke Ellington". Following the performance will be a Q and A. The program will include a new work written for the occasion by Dr. Mark Harvey, inspired by the Shaw Memorial, Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Memorial to Robert Gould Shaw and the Massachusetts Fifty-Fourth Regiment. This will be the second and final day of the special two day jazz experience held in collaboration with the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts.
