CJC will present 2 public performances of Sandglass Theater's high-energy production of Babylon - a response to the worldwide refugee crisis and its impact on U.S. - along with a workshop for high school students. We understand the challenges that face refugees and asylum seekers. Babylon looks at the relationship of refugees to their homelands, lost and new, and the conflicts that exist within the countries to which they flee. Using puppets and moving panoramic scrolls, five actor/singer puppeteers tell the refugees' stories in original four-choral songs. Artists will work with our community partner San Diego Puppetry Guild to promote the performance series and market to a diverse audience.
