Sandglass Theater

Now entering its 19th season, Winter Sunshine is Southern Vermont’s favorite theater program dedicated to serving children, families and teachers through the art of puppetry. In February 2024 Sandglass Theater will present four programs that specialize in puppet theater for family audiences. It has been many years since we were last able to present marionettes in our series. The week of Feb 12th Sandglass will facilitate a Tanglewood Marionettes workshop for one local school partner. This resident workshop will give up to sixty students an intimate and hands-on opportunity to explore the workings of marionette puppetry. Tanglewood’s master puppeteers will discuss some of the construction and stringing techniques used when building marionettes, and then demonstrate the basics of marionette manipulation. Participants will be provided with marionettes for the duration of the workshop. Saturday Feb 24 Sandglass will present Tanglewood Marionettes for two shows at our theater in Putney, VT.
