During the pandemic, facing the loss of two years of touring, our live ensemble production of Babylon (Journeys of Refugees) was turned into a film. Over the course of the show’s development and touring the ensemble changed personnel and evolved. The most significant transition to occur during this project, is the passing of leadership of the ensemble and operations from co-founder Eric Bass to Babylon ensemble member Shoshana Bass. Under Shoshana’s leadership, Sandglass is developing the artistic practices and governance that developed during the Babylon project. Our current Transition project is the intersection of:
- Furthering our Ensemble practice in new work and artistic training
- Furthering the distribution of Babylon as a film and the Refugee Journey Workshop as a community engagement.
- Growing and stabilizing our operations, under new leadership, to meet these needs.
