Naughty (working title) is a performance piece that explores how trauma maps the brain and creates a toxic footprint that can live in our minds comfortably for our entire lives. Using movement, text, drawn digital illustrations, live music, stand-up comedy and audience interaction, performance artist Sara Juli looks at disrupting trauma to find a settling of the mind. With live music by Portland-based musician, Sorcha Cribben-Merrlll and digital imagery by Dirty Bandits of Brooklyn, NY.

In order to develop this evening-length original work, funds are requested to support a five-day artist residency (February 8-12, 2023), with my entire collaborative team in attendance, culminating in a public showing and discussion on February 12th at 3pm. The residency and showing will be held at The Strand Theater in Rockland, ME, the same space where the world premiere of the work will take place in Fall 2023.
