On Thurs., Sept. 15, 2022 the Performing Arts Series will present La Mezcla, who will perform Pachuquísmo at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater in Bartley Ranch. Prior to the performance, we will host a pre-performance “Show n’ Shine” with lowriders on display from throughout the region as well as record spinning and food and beverage trucks. La Mezcla will help with some of the coordination for this (assistance with connecting with the lowrider community).
In addition to this performance, La Mezcla will facilitate three activities in the community that will take place from Tues., Sept. 13 through Thurs., Sept. 15, 2022. During this time, Vanessa Sanchez will host two dance classes in tap and traditional Son Jarocho dance with University dance students and/or community members. She will facilitate one lecture/presentation that the Performing Arts Series will coordinate in collaboration with the Dept. of Gender, Race and Identity about the untold histories presented in Pachuquísmo.
