Seacoast African American Culturual Center

2020 marks the Seacoast African American Cultural Center’s 20th anniversary of promoting Black arts and cultures in New England, and the city council declaration that our organization is key to making Portsmouth, NH a racial justice municipality. A NEAR grant will support us at this milestone moment in three ways. First, to stabilize and integrate operations for our visitor center, gallery and performing arts space, and collection of Africana material culture. Second, to advance public arts programming that showcases artists of color and hosts conversations on racism and Black history. Third, to centralize educational and visitor resources for the African Burying Ground Memorial Park.
