Sheila Tousey (Stockbridge Munsee/Menominee) and Betsy Theobald Richards (Cherokee) plan to work on their new theater piece (working title: HUNGER) that deals with the physical, spiritual, environmental and psychological aspects of feeding themselves. Growing out of an ongoing discussion between the collaborators, HUNGER endeavors to address the underlying truths that show themselves in the obesity and diabetes epidemics in Native communities and the larger world. Their time will be spent improvising, doing interviews and extended brainstorming/writing sessions. They hope to use the exchange to finalize a piece that will go on to tour to other Native communities as well as general audiences.
