SPACE

Ourbigband will return to SPACE Gallery for a concert of entirely new music, featuring a new collaboration and compositions by Connecticut bassist/composer Ben Allison as well as works by bandleader Chris Klaxton. In addition to the live performance, Chris Klaxton and Ourbigband members will present an afternoon masterclass, open to youth musicians and the cultural community. In this workshop they will explore the history of the big band, this band structure's role in the jazz pantheon, connections they draw among disparate genres, and the diversity of contemporary music Ourbigband plays.
