Tucker Elementary School with Lee Beard

Tucker Elementary School in Milton, MA seeks to empower student artists to design and install a public mural that illuminates their diverse and vibrant school community. The goals of this project are to convene the Tucker community to envision collectively an abundant future through artmaking; build community among the Tucker community inclusive of students, educators, families, and neighbors; and foster a welcoming space for all to enjoy. Muralist Lee Beard will facilitate a weeklong residency with the school's art teacher, Jessica Gillooly to engage all Tucker students. Fifth graders in the Art Enrichment Club (ACE), will work alongside Lee to conceptualize and install the mural. A celebratory unveiling will be held, and subsequent community conversations will be facilitated with partners to foster dialogue about Milton's evolving identity as a town and the role the arts play in cultural vitality and health.
