The University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center plans to present internationally acclaimed singer Angelique Kidjo (Benin) in concert on Thursday, November 14, 2024 on our campus main stage, the Frederick C. Tillis Performance Hall. We are also planning two outreach activities: an on-site meet and greet reception with Kidjo for students, faculty, staff, and community members, as well as a livestream interview in late October (date TBA) with nationally-recognized, public media music host, Marco Werman. We specifically chose Kidjo to present in the week after the US national election on November 5, 2024 as a widely-loved artist whose music is known for appealing to diverse publics, bringing people together, and celebrating positive multicultural and socially progressive values. Also, the livestream interview is being co-produced with our two NEST 3 co-applicants, Portland Ovations (ME) and Global Arts Live (MA) and will be permanently archived on our website and Youtube channel.
