Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE) brings “Suite Talk”, a feature-length, original presentation of dance and poetry that lyrically explores the embedded emotional challenges of overcoming racial, ethnic and religious divisions in America. The project is comprised of three events for spring 2023, a double screening of a documentary film and a live performance by beheard.world, a performing arts and filmmaking organization based in Boston. They are composed of 9 modern and hip hop dancers, as well as 4 Spoken Word artists, a choreographer and filmmaker. They have a long history of sharing social justice themes with diverse audiences. This award-winning documentary, Invisible Imprints, highlights the experiences of the beheard.world troupe as they toured from Jackson, MS, to Chicago, exploring America’s racial history and its impact on them as artists/activists.
Both events will be followed by facilitated talkbacks featured in the work to explore issues of race, equity and inclusion
