Vermont Folklife

The Young Tradition Festival celebrates and nurtures young artists, fosters multi-generational relationships, and promotes diverse traditional music and dance communities. It provides a unique opportunity for young participants to showcase their talents, inspire their peers, and engage with the wider community. This year the Festival will include performer school visits, showcase of mentor/mentee performances, workshops for youth from local artists, a family music jam, and a family contra dance. Each evening of the festival will have an evening performance. 2024 headliners are Himalayan Dreams, a Massachusetts-based band comprising five talented musicians who migrated to the US from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, and Genticorum, a multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards winner, as well as Juno and ADISQ nominations, bring Québécois traditional music to the Festival with their unbridled energy, musicianship and their magnetic stage presence. Lastly, the YTV Touring Group will perform.
