The project is to plan a set of four life-size bronze statues to pay tribute to people who have performed essential labor in Boston’s Chinatown. They are to be located in public places in the community as permanent public art, to mark and to affirm the continuous presence of the Chinese immigrant community in the South Cove area of Boston for the last 125 years. The project plans to involve the community as partners to engage in the genesis, the development, and the funding processes, so that these place-making markers will be felt as fully owned by the community.
