In the summer of 2021, The Yard will bring Stefanie Batten Bland/company sbb to Martha’s Vineyard to share her new work, “Embarqued”. The company will spend three weeks in residency culminating in preview performances for outdoor, socially-distant audiences. We also hope to create a short documentary film about the creation of the work. “Embarqued” is inspired by the Martha’s Vineyard African American Heritage Trail, a growing network of sites that celebrate the stories of the historic African American community on the island of Martha’s Vineyard.
